Hiding in Plain Sight...

After a really long hiatus from birding, I recently returned to my old stomping grounds - the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary - to see what I could find.

Spring had sprung early in British Columbia, so I wasn't very optimistic; thinking that perhaps most of the birds would be nesting far away from prying eyes. Instead, I found the trees and waterways full of beautiful songs, quacks, squeaks, and honks.  The next time you're outside, stop for just a second and listen for them.  They're ready to serenade you...without asking for your spare change :)

A Rufous Hummingbird

A Marsh Wren

A Common Yellowthroat

A Cinnamon Teal

A Great Horned Owl

A Great Blue Heron

A pair of Northern Shovelers

A Tree Swallow

A Golden-Crowned Sparrow

A Northern Pintail [my FAVORITE DUCK!]

A Song Sparrow

A Sandhill Crane

A Handsome Wood Duck
